Celebrating Earth Day in our local Dental Community!

Green Hygiene

Green Hygiene is a collaborative recycling project created by Dr. Koufos at Orthodontic Specialists. Our practice has participated in the recycling (and melting) of toothbrushes, since 2012. We are proud to have partnered with Frank H. Hammond Elementary School, who placed in the top 10 nationally for their recycling efforts!  Our donation of recyled toothbrushes contributed over 200 pounds of plastic in one year! These toothbrushes are melted down into plastic materials to be re-purposed for park benches and slides for our schools!  In return, the entire student body was given free toothbrushes by Colgate. 

Hello Baby

We are so proud to have found our friend Debbie Frisch and thank her for introducing us to the best children’s playhouse in South Chicago’s underserved, Woodlawn neighborhood! We love to help donate toothbrushes and baby hygiene products and our time to help with dental education, taught by Tina, our Registered Dental Hygienist. This is a very special place and it warms our hearts to be a part of this loving community.  

GIVE A SMILE

Over the years, we have been inspired by the many wonderfully fearless children at Riley Children's Hospital for Children. This hospital is very personal to us, because of one brave little angel named Adler. He was the bravest of all! 

Each year Orthodontic Specialists reaches out to our local dental community and patients.  We ask them to consider to participate in our GIVE A SMILE program, by donating a toy.  For each toy dontated, Dr. Koufos will match their gift with an additional $10 donation for the kids at Riley.  #ftk
